HELAMBU TREK

Helambu trek is one of the most popular trekking destinations in the Langtang region of Nepal. The trek can be started from both Sundarijal and Melamchi Bazaar. It is about 60 km away through Melamchi Bazar and only 26 km away from Sundarijal. Helambu is located on the northeast side of the Kathmandu valley, it extends to the tree limit of the Gosaikunda Lake and lower slopes of Jugal Himal from north of the Taramarang. We trek through various Sherpa, Lama, Tamang, and Rai villages that extend on both sides of the Melamchi Khola. Our trek begins through the capital of Nepal Kathmandu valley and the 70 km drive to the northeast of the Kathmandu valley- Sundarijal. From Sundarijal, we will trek to Chisapani where we get the entrance to Shivapuri National Park. Now, we will trek in the ridgeline and Kutumsang village passing various dense rhododendron and bamboo forests. Today we will reach the highest point of the trek, Tharepati. From Tharepati now we trek for Tarke Gyang and Sermanthang along the Melamchi River. You can visit the monasteries that provide an insight into Tibetan culture followers by various locals. Finally, from Melamchi Bazaar we will drive back to Kathmandu.

DETAIL ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, one of our representative members will welcome you to Nepal. Now, you will be safely transferred to a hotel. After finishing the check-in process, rest for the day or you can explore the tourist hub of Nepal Thamel.

Day 2: Sightseeing and trek preparation day in Kathmandu

After having an early morning breakfast we will start our fully guided sightseeing tour of the Valley. Visit the UNESCO-listed world heritage sites of the valley- Changunarayan, Swayambhunath stupa, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, and Patan Durbar Square. Overnight in the Hotel.

Day 3: Drive to Sundarijal and trek to Chisapani (2300m)

After having breakfast, we now start the drive towards Sundarijal. It will take about 40 minutes to reach Sundarijal from where the trekking part of this journey starts. From Sundarijal, our trail takes us through forests and villages arriving at Chisapani. Overnight in the hotel at Chisapani.

Day 4: Trek from Chisapani to Kutumsang (2450m)

Early in the morning, our trek towards Kutumsang begins. Today will be an easy walking day as there is less participation in ascent and descent. However, the trail follows some uphill and downhill on the route to Kutumsang. Enjoying the stunning vistas of the Langtang region you will reach Kutumsang.

Day 5: Trek from Kutumsang to Tharepati (3650m)

Today our trail takes us to the highest point of the trek, Tharepati. The trail will be six hours long along with stunning mountain views and an astounding trekking experience. From Yurin Dada you can enjoy the marvelous views of the Himalayas and some wonders of nature can be seen before reaching today’s destination Tharepati. Overnight at a hotel in Tharepati. 

Day 6: Trek from Tharepati to Tarke Gyang (2743m)

After having early morning breakfast, we will start our trek towards Tarke Gyang. It will be a six-hour-long trek in the Helambu region that will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The trail passes through various beautiful sherpa, lama, and rai villages of Tarke Gyang. The beautiful village Tarke Gyang is a perfect mixture of culture and spirituality to observe. Overnight in the hotel of Tarke Gyang.

Day 7: Trek from Tarke Gyang to Sermanthang (2620m)

Today we will descend to Sermanthang passing various small settlements. The Sherpa, Lama, and rai villages of Melamchi Region are rich in Sherpa culture and represent the simplicity of life. Now, we will pass various forests upon arriving in Sermanthang. Overnight in Sermanthang.

Day 8: Trek to Melamchi Bazar and drive back to Kathmandu

Today is the last trekking day in the Gosaikunda and Helambu region of Nepal. The trail follows a terraced field and various small settlements to reach Melamchi. From Melamchi, we will have a scenic drive back to Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 9: Final Departure 

As per your scheduled flight, our representative member will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport.
