An unforgettable Annapurna experience with Shibu (Heartland Trekking)
My boyfriend and I trekked to Annapurna Base Camp and Mardi Himal Base Camp over 12 days in October 2025, guided by Shibu from Heartland Trekkig. It was truly the most breathtaking travel experience of our lives, while also being completely seamless from start to finish. What makes Shibu exceptional as a Nepal trekking guide is his incredible ability to adapt to his guests. From the very beginning, he understood exactly the level of involvement we wanted, whether it was learning about the route, the mountains, nature and wildlife, or Nepali culture and daily life. He adjusted the trek perfectly to our pace and level, continuously fine-tuning the route and daily stages to ensure we had the best possible experience. Pacing and altitude management were handled with outstanding professionalism. Shibu was very deliberate about walking speed to help prevent altitude sickness, made sure we stopped regularly to rest and drink tea, reminded us to stay hydrated, and closely monitored how we were adapting each day. We felt safe and cared for at all times. Logistically, everything was effortless. Shibu took care of all permits, transport and organisation, allowing us to completely switch off from planning and focus fully on the landscapes, the views, and disconnecting from everyday life. This made a huge difference to how deeply we could enjoy the trek. Food and accommodation were another highlight. Shibu always went the extra mile to find the best options: places with good hygiene, reliable kitchens and excellent value for money. We had no stomach issues throughout the entire trek and always felt well rested, even at 4,000 meters altitude, where good accommodation can be hard to find. He even lent us walking poles and sleeping bags, saving us from having to rent equipment in Pokhara. There were many moments where Shibu’s care really stood out. On the hike up to Mardi Himal Base Camp, there was a more technically challenging section where he supported me with complete focus on safety and confidence. And on a lighter but equally telling note, he even helped me plan on which days to wash my hair, based on upcoming temperatures and the availability of hot showers, a perfect example of how thoughtful and client-oriented he is. On a personal level, Shibu is kind, funny, respectful, patient and motivating. He knew exactly when we wanted to talk and learn, and when we appreciated silence and space. Thanks to him, we learned so much about Nepali culture, local villages and people, the Himalayas, nature and wildlife. He was also so patient and took so many beautiful pictures of us! Because of his adaptability and professionalism, I would recommend Shibu without hesitation to first-time trekkers, experienced hikers, couples, solo travellers, families and groups. Whether you’re looking for classic routes like Annapurna Base Camp or less-frequented trails :) I cannot wait to return to Nepal and explore more of the Himalayas with Shibu. I would hire him again without any doubt and have already recommended him to friends and family. An Unforgettable Mardi Himal Trek with a Guide Who Became Family
I just returned from the Mardi Himal Trek with Heartland Trekking Nepal, and I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences of my life – not just because of the stunning Himalayan views, but because of our incredible guide, Shiva Dai. Our trek in Nepal was absolutely breathtaking, but what made the experience truly special was our amazing guide Shiba. Shiba was highly knowledgeable, incredibly friendly, funny and one of the most genuinely kindest human beings we have ever met. Someone whom we will never forget. He made every day special to the point where we were quite sad to part ways once the trek was over. Shibu - wonderful guide!!!
We started our four-day adventure from Hile, the first night after 4.5 hours of climbing and over 3,000 stairs we spent in Ulleri. Then after about 5 hours we reached Ghorepani. The new day turned out to be the most beautiful and the longest at the same time, Poonhill 3210 m above sea level. (stairs, stairs everywhere and a few more stairs) at sunrise we saw real eight-thousanders!!! Then, through Thapla Danda, we reached Tadapani and Ghandruk, where we were hit by heavy rain and blood-sucking leeches. Luckily for us, our wonderful guide, Shibu, rubbed our shoes and legs with salt to prevent bites. Climbing completed in Pokhara...an amazing adventure and unforgettable experiences, all thanks to the best guide in the world - Shibu!!! caring, professional, funny, we are also planning our next trips with Shibu! Highly recommended!
This is the second time I go on a trekking tour with Shibu and would do it again anytime! We went on a 16 days trek on Annapurna Circuit and Ghorepani. Namaste to everyone! I’d like to share my feelings after such a marvellous adventure to Annapurna Base Camp I had with Dipu that I’ll never forget and will always remember as a beginning of discovering the Nepalese Himalayas. I was there in November, a good time to enjoy landscapes with no rains and overcrowded paths. Exploring the whole way with Dipu was extremely comfortable. He is a very amiable, attentive guide who controls everything: from your backpacks to having meal.
