Annapurna Base Camp trek Itinerary

Annapurna Base Camp Trek brings you face to face with an eight-thousander. It is one of the most popular trekking destinations in the world. The trek offers stunning snow-capped mountain views of the massif Annapurna range, and the opportunity to experience the traditional and cultural lifestyle of Highlanders in Nepal. Our trail passes through various dense forests of lush green rhododendron, oak, bamboo, and alpine forests; charming villages of Magar, rai, and Gurung; and the tranquil landscapes. Finally, to our destination Annapurna Base Camp at an elevation of 4130m (13,546ft), through Machhapuchhre Base Camp at an elevation of 3700 meters.

  • Day 1: Drive to Pokhara from Kathmandu

Our first day starts with the scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. It will be a 6-7 hours picturesque drive crossing Trishuli and Marsyangdi river along with green forests and rocky mountains. Pokhara is a beautiful valley lying in the lap of the Annapurna mountain range and is famous for several lakes like Phewa and Begnas. The valley also offers stunning mountain views of Mt. Annapurna, Machapuchare, Dhaulagiri, Lamjung Himal, and Manaslu. 

  • Day 2: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul (1570m) and Trek to Ulleri (1540m/5050ft)

After having a delicious breakfast, our short drive heads to Tikhedhunga. The scenic drive passes through Nayapul and Birethanti along with stunning terraced farms of Burundi Khola. Now the off-road drive takes us to Tikhedunga. Our hike starts from Tikhedhunga passing through Sudan and Hile villages, and finally Ulleri. Overnight at Ulleri.

  • Day 3: Ulleri to Ghorepani Trek (2860m/9385ft)

Today our trail slowly ascends towards Ghorepani. The trail passes through various rhododendron forests, rivers, springs, and wild animals. Ghorepani, the marvelous settlement lies on a ridgeline with stunning sights of Tukuche, Dhampus, Nilgiri, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, and Dhaulagiri I, II, III, IV, V. Overnight at the hotel of Ghorepani.

  • Day 4: Trek from Ghorepani to Poon Hill viewpoint (3210m/10525ft). Trek to Tadapani (2630m/8630ft)

After having early morning breakfast our trail leads us to Poon Hill for a stunning sunrise view over the Himalayas. Poonhill offers trekkers a heavenly sight of Annapurna ranges, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Machhapuchhre mountains. Although, it is a famous spot for photography. After clicking some pictures we will descend to Tadapani passing Deurali and Bandthanti villages. Overnight at Tadapani.

  • Day 5: Tadapani to Chomrong Trek(2165m/7105ft)

Today our journey towards Chomrong continues after waking up early in the morning. The trail leads us through beautiful Ghandruk Village and steep descent towards Kimron River. Finally, the spectacular village Chomrong lies on the lap of the mighty Annapurna massif with stunning views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre. Chomorong village is popular for overnight stays.

  • Day 6: Trek from Chomrong to Himalaya (2890m/9425ft)

After having a delicious breakfast our trek continues following the trail down to Chomrong Khola. Our trail passes through oak, bamboo, and rhododendron forests along with steep stones. The trekkers can enjoy the stunning views of snow-capped peaks Machhapuchhe and Annapurna passing Khuldigar village and bamboo lodge settlements. Finally, we will ascend one more time to the Himalayas.

  • Day 7: Trek from Himalaya to Annapurna Base Camp (4130m/13550ft) via Machhapuchhre Base Camp

Today our journey continues through a narrow gorge passing an overhanging rock Hinku Cave. The trail offers the marvelous beauty of surrounding mountains walking close by the Annapurna glaciers. After crossing Machhapuchhre Base Camp we will continue our journey towards Annapurna Base Camp. Finally, from Annapurna Base Camp enjoy the 360-degree snow-capped mountain view of Hiunchuli, Annapurna south to Annapurna I, Khangsar Kang, Gangapurna, Machhapuchhare, and Annapurna III. Overnight at Annapurna Base Camp.

  • Day 8: Trek from Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (2350m/7700ft)

Today we will descend to the stopover point Bamboo. Now it’s time to climb down after having a memory of Annapurna Base Camp. Our trail leads us far away from the Annapurna Sanctuary and out of the Modi River Valley. Finally, overnight at Bamboo.

  • Day 9: Bamboo to Jhinu Danda Trek (1780m/6393ft)

After having a delicate breakfast at Bamboo we will continue our trail towards Jhinu Danda. Our trail passes through Kimrong Khola, rhododendron, bamboo, and oak forests, and finally Jhinu Danda. Enjoy the night at the soothing natural hot springs of Jhinu Danda. Enjoy the magnificent beauty of rhododendron forest and lush vegetation from the hot spring.

  • Day 10: Trek from Jhinu Danda to Siwa/Ghandruk Phedi (1150m/3770ft) and drive back to Pokhara (820m) 

Today our trail passes through a plain dust road after leaving Jhinu Danda. The trek throughout the day is most relaxing until we reach Siwa/Ghandruk Phedi. Now, after having a few hours of walking, we will reach Siwa/Ghandruk Phedi. Lastly, we will have a scenic drive back to Pokhara. Overnight at Pokhara.

  • Day11: Drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara (1350m/4450ft)

After having an early morning breakfast we will leave for Kathmandu. The 2200 m long route passes through the Marsyangdi river and Trishuli river. It will be a 6-7 hours beautiful ride with stunning views of the natural scenery and terraced farmlands. Finally, there will be one last climb for Kathmandu, the place where your journey begins.
